The question we are asked most often before a booking is which to take. Both sit in the same gardens, a short walk from the same beach, and the difference is less about quality than about how you want the middle of the day to feel.
The cabanas
Cabanas are the more open, more elemental option, and they come both air-conditioned and fan-cooled. A fan-cooled cabana with the sea breeze moving through it is, on a good night, the nicest place on the property. In the hotter, stiller months it is a different experience, and guests who sleep badly in the heat should take air conditioning rather than hope.
- There are doubles, triples and family cabanas, so groups can usually stay together.
- Closer to the sand, and correspondingly closer to the sound of the sea.
The villas and country house rooms
The villas and country house rooms are more enclosed and all air-conditioned, which makes them the easier choice for afternoon sleeping, for working, and for anyone travelling with very young children. They sit a little further back among the palms, which means marginally more quiet and marginally less sea noise.
A short way of deciding
- Travelling in the hotter months, or a light sleeper: take air conditioning.
- Here for the sea and the open air, in the cooler months: take a fan-cooled cabana.
- A family needing one space: look at the family cabana and the family villa first.
- Staying a week or more: the air-conditioned rooms tend to wear better over time.
